Health & Beauty Tips

Dear Kylie-Jane,

Hope you are all having a great weekend, and perhaps are not too tired from those Anzac Dawn Services yesterday!

This week I am going to show you how to
"Prevent creases in your eyeshadow" &

"Beauty SOS  - What to do when you get STUCK!"

Have a great day today!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy :)

eyeshadow Q. I really love wearing eyeshadow, both the cream kind and also powder eyshadow, but I find by lunchtime it has creased and is barely there.... How can I keep it on ALL day?

A.

Use a primer
Eye shadow primer creates the perfect canvas for your shadow. You can use liquid foundation as a primer, but that can get messy. It's best to buy a product that is specifically designed as a primer. Apply the primer to the entire lid and then wait a few minutes before applying shadow.

Skip the eye cream
Well don't skip it all together. It's important to use eye cream around your eyes to help prevent wrinkles, but don't put it on your lids. Eye creams will leave your eyelids oily and puffy because it's designed to plump and fill in wrinkles. When your lids are too oily, the color tends to crease and fade quickly.

Use loose powder
Apply a dusting of translucent powder to your whole face, including eyelids, before applying your makeup. This will create a dry, smooth base.

Choose powder shadow
Instead of cream eye shadow, use powder instead. Creams tend to crease on oily eyelids and oftentimes fade faster than their powder counterparts. You can use cream if you are layering colors, but try to finish off with a powder shadow.

Kylie-Jane suggests the following Product,

to use as an eye primer:

MK Eye Primer $25

Got a spot that wont go away? Want to find out the best way to get rid of a streaky fake tan?

Well below are all the answers you need:-

SKIN SOLUTIONS

What is an instant natural brightener for my skin?
Mix equal amounts of olive oil and lemon juice and massage into your skin for 5 mins. Rinse off with warm water. As far as skin care goes, a Vitamin C Treatment program will also revive dull looking skin.

What's a good way to remove fake tan streaks?
Mix some lemon juice and salt together and use on a loofah to rub the streaky area.

How can I make my skin glow when I don't have time to fake tan?
Mix an equal quantity of body shimmer with your body moisturiser and put some on before you get dressed: it reflects the light and gives a glow without the tan.

FACE UP

Is there a quick, natural way to lift my face?
Separate an egg, whisk the white until it stiffens slightly, then apply to the face for 20mins. Rinse off with warm water.

What's an instant way of getting rid of dry skin on my face?
When your looking a bit flaky, exfoliation will remove the dead skin cells. If you've run out of exfoliator, add a small amount of sugar (brown if possible) to your usual cleanser and run gently over your face. A Microdermabrasion treatment is also an instant way to remove dry flaky skin and improve the appearance of skin with just one session.

Can I treat a spot and still wear make-up?
Dab some apple cider vinegar onto the spot before applying your concealer. Tea Tree Oil is also fantastic for drying out blemishes - just make sure you follow it up with a good moisturiser so your skin does not get too dry.

How can I stop the onset of a skin eruption?
If you feel a monster bulging up from under the skin's surface, apply an ice cube to it several times a day to minimise the bulge. Caring for your skin using a consistant skin regime twice daily will also help prevent the onset of blemishes and maintain them.

IT'S ALL IN THE EYES

What's a quick fix way of refreshing tired eyes?

Mix up a bottle containing equal quantities of rosewater and mineral water and keep it in your fridge. When tiredness strikes, soak a couple of cottonwool pads in the mixture and place them on your eyes for a few minutes. A cucumber eye gel/mask will also do the trick in refreshing tired eyes and helping to relieve puffiness.

My mascara is all lumpy in the tube - help!
If your mascara is all clumpy, let it rest in some warm water for a few minutes to heat the mixture and liquefy it once more. For hygene purposes you should replace your mascara every 3 months.

How can I curl my lashes quickly?
If you've no time to fiddle around with eyelash curlers, run a teaspoon under warm water, then press it to the base of your lashes for a few seconds.

QUICK MAKE-UP TRICKS
I've forgotten my make-up bag, what's a quick pick-me-up for skin?
In a make-up bag SOS, use that lip balm floating around in your bag and dab it along the cheek bones, in the inner corners of the eye, down the middle of the nose and on your mouth to add instant luminescence.

If I only take one make-up product out with me, what should it be?
If you cant take the whole lot, grab your lip gloss/lipstick. It is surprising how a bit of colour/shine can add radiance to your face while detracting from any flaws.

How can I give my tired make-up  an instant lift?
A smudge of blusher on the apples of your cheeks and a quick lick of mascara will do wonders.

How do I fix an excess blusher emergency?
If you go overboard with blusher, don't use make-up remover, as you'll ruin your make-up base. Use a cottonwool pad to brush away the excess, then apply a layer of loose powder to tone down your cheeks.
