Eyelash Extensions vs False Eyelashes

false eyelashesDo you know the difference between false eyelashes and eyelash extensions, and how to determine which is best for you?

False eyelashes and eyelash extensions are the latest beauty obsession worn by celebrities such as Maria Shriver, Beyonce, Star Jones, Ivana Trump and Khloe Kardashian. And now that this trend has become more popular and affordable, every woman seems to be craving the look of longer, fuller eyelashes.

Eyelashes add volume, length, and makes the eye appear larger and more defined. Unfortunately not everyone was born with them. But thankfully the beauty industry has created a solution, and if applied correctly, no one will ever guess they're not yours. False eyelashes and eyelash extensions can be worn for special occasions or everyday for a natural look and feel.

False eyelashes (a strip of eyelashes) can be applied for a temporary, quick and glamorous look. They softly enhances your natural eyelashes, while adding volume and length.

Flare eyelashes are clusters, consisting of several strands of hair. They are available in short, medium and long lengths and can be applied in specific areas for a detailed look. Flare eyelashes can be put on by an experienced person, but is recommended to be applied by a professional, as it can be a tedious process.

Eyelash extensions is a cosmetic procedure that consists of bonding natural and/or synthetic fibers to each one of your natural eyelashes with a special adhesive. This is a semi-permanent procedure that lasts for the life of your eyelash (eyelashes normally shed about every 90 days) and starts at about $100. This procedure is painless, and the results are natural, longer, fuller eyelashes you can swim and shower with. Clients are required to return for fill-in services, which can costs between $50-$100. This procedure should be done by a certified technician only, as the use of utensils and material can be harmful if not applied properly.

When deciding which procedure is best for you, one should consider your lifestyle and the look you are trying to create. If you are going out for a special occasion and do not intend to wear the eyelashes past that day, strip eyelashes are perfect. If you want your eyelashes to lasts longer (perhaps for a weekend getaway) and don't want to fuss with make-up too much, cluster eyelashes will do the job. And for those who want a more permanent look, without altering your lifestyle, eyelash extensions are the way to go.
